Billington’s of Lenzie

A WooCommerce relaunch that gave a popular local business a workable online sales channel.

Billington’s already had a strong offline reputation, but the website was not making it easy to sell online to local or wider audiences. The brief was to improve both the customer-facing experience and the back-end administration behind it.

The result was a better-looking, easier-to-manage site that also opened a new online sales channel shipping across the UK.

The starting point

A strong business needed a site that could actually sell.

Billington’s already had the reputation and the customer demand. The issue was that the existing setup did not make online selling easy enough, either for customers placing orders or for the team managing products, deliveries and event sales behind the scenes.

This made the brief both front-end and operational: improve the experience customers saw, while making the back office easier to run.

What changed

A more capable WooCommerce setup.

01

Rebuild on WooCommerce

The new site was built on WooCommerce to suit the team’s familiarity with WordPress and the flexibility needed for products and events.

02

Refresh the look and feel

A cleaner design and stronger photography helped the site better reflect the quality of the business.

03

Improve buying journeys

Layouts and product presentation were reworked to make the site easier for customers to browse and buy from.

04

Make the back end easier to manage

Admin systems were improved for products, sales, deliveries, event ticketing and account management.

Outcome

A more useful site and a new online sales channel.

The site now does more than showcase the business. It supports online sales, complements the offline operation and gives the team a far more workable system for managing what happens behind the scenes.

The numbers make that clear, but so does the shift in role: the website became a proper commercial channel rather than a passive brochure.

From the client

“Our e-commerce shop has never been more important. The back office is easy to maintain, and the support from 8th Row has been second to none.”
