University of Strathclyde TIC

SEO consulting to improve visibility for conference and events enquiries.

The TIC events team wanted to increase enquiries for events and conferences. The core issue was not the offer itself, but the fact that the relevant pages were weak in search and hard to discover.

This was a consulting engagement rather than an ongoing marketing retainer, so the job was to diagnose the gaps clearly and hand the team a practical route forward.

Audit and keyword research

The goal was to understand why the conference offering was missing from relevant searches.

Recommendations

UX, layout and copy guidance

The output was a clearer structure for the pages and better alignment with search demand.

Implementation

Internal web-team rollout

The University’s web development team took the recommendations forward.

The challenge

The conference offer was hard to find in search.

The TIC events team came to 8th Row to increase website enquiries for events and conferences. Search visibility was weak enough that relevant traffic — and the enquiries that could have followed — was being missed.

That made the first priority diagnosis: understanding where visibility was breaking down and what the site needed to do differently.

What changed

A practical roadmap rather than vague SEO advice.

01

Audit the current search presence

The existing visibility of the relevant pages was reviewed to understand where the biggest weaknesses were.

02

Find the missed search demand

Keyword research highlighted the searches the team should have been appearing for, but were not.

03

Recommend stronger page structure and UX

Website layout recommendations made the conference service clearer for both users and crawlers.

04

Provide copy direction

Copy examples helped the internal team understand how to present the service more effectively.

Outcome

A clearer internal plan for improving relevant enquiries.

The main value here was clarity. Instead of broad SEO discussion, the TIC team received a specific set of findings and actions that could be implemented internally.

That is often what a good consulting engagement should do: make the problems easier to see, prioritise the next steps and leave the internal team with a more confident route forward.
